Need hair advice?

I have really thick, poofy hair. It grows up and out rather than down. My arm is also paralyzed so my styling options are limited with only one working hand. When it is long I cannot put it in a ponytail myself and it is so thick it drives me nuts so I always end up cutting it short but then it's still poofy so I have to do something with it but, like I said options are limited with one hand.

Are there any products or styling techniques that can help my unruly hair?

Right now it is short and I usually put stuff in it and clip it to the side or wear a kerchief.

Try Sunsilk Anti-Poof Shampoo, Conditioner and Leave-in Treatment. It has done wonders for my long, wavy and poofy hair! It comes in a light blue bottle and can be bought at any drug or grocery store!!

well you should wash your hair and get a wet to dry straightener and use it everyday when u get out the shower and itll tame the beast

well first you need to start trying to find little purposes for your paralysed hand then try statening your hair or just go to the hair dresser

When you go to the hairdresser you should ask to have it thinned - they'll put in layers and it should go a lot thinner which will make it easier to control. I have the same problem!! Use a serum - basically every range will have on - which will say something like for frizzy, dry hair or a straightening balm - if you put a bit of that on your hand and lighytly run your fingers through your hair that should help. On the other hand if you have curly hair use a curl enhancing mousse and do the same thing.

I have the exact same hair. If it's long enough, you can try this: What I do is wash it a few times a week, I use a good conditioner and then put mousse in it, then pull it back into a messy bun, and let it dry over night, The next day I let it loose and it looks smooth and is way easier to deal with. Also sometimes I touch it up with a curling iron, just the ends, and use an anti frizz serum, so it looks good for a few days. This method straightens and smooths it really nice. Hope this helps.

Could you get it braided into cornrows maybe??

Get it thinned out..... and then try long layers in it.....

There is a way to make your hair do what you want!!!

After you wash your hair, use a towel to get the most of the remaining water out (towel dry) and then use a spray-in silk or shine serum. I use Pureology Glossing Mist (http://www.pureology.com/) but Vinyl Glam by redken (http://www.redken.com) would also work - I say this because these are sprays that you would be able to easily use. When you spray them onto your towel dried hair it will help with the poofiness. You may also want to try a leave-in conditioner - The Conditioner by Paul Mitchell is great (http://www.paulmitchell.com).

If you want more of a curly look, try using a spray mousse like Guts by redken (http://www.redken.com) when your hair is towel dry, then use your good hand to scrunch and you are done. Just make sure that you spray the mousse all over your head.

Another good tip to reduce frizziness is to use a smoothing shampoo and conditioner (Sleek.look by Matrix - www.matrix.com or Smooth Down by redken - www.redken.com are both good products) and once your hair is dry - DO NOT TOUCH - this disturbs the balance of oils in hair by transferring the ones from your hands to your hair.
