so it is about chin length and in layers. However, now some of my natural curl is growing back in so it is half straight and half curly. Therefore, I have to style it with some form of heat daily to make it look professional and presentable. The texture of it is fine and silky soft, so my question is, Is this hurting anything? It sure does help me cope with it while it's growing out. Or, should I get clip in extensions or another type of extensions while growing it out or would that just further damage my hair? I'm taking vitamins, biotin, carrot juice, etc. and I've always had to wash daily - naturally curly fine thin hair after laying on it all night is not presentable to say the least the next morning - especially now that it is at the in between half curly half straight stage.

well, you could relax the curly part of your hair straight, or get a ceramic flat iron to minimize the damage, but if your hair is naturally curly you should probably only use shampoo on it every other day and use conditioner everyday, so you have enough natural oil in your hair to help protect it from daily heat damage. i have a friend who flatirons her hair daily and im going to be honest she looks like she has hay coming out of her head. Another tip, only straighten the curly part. I hope ive answered your question.

I have fried my hair before as well, and if you really want to take good care of your hair, then I would suggest using high quality conditioner on your hair. Nioxin is a really good product, but you can only find it in salons. CHI flat irons, hair dryers, and curling irons are great, but you should use with their hair protecting creams. Don't go using cheap stuff to curl your hair and such, that's when you really ruin your hair, and of course, clip the dead ends. I don't think though, that every 6 weeks is necessary, it depends on your hair. Good luck.

A flat iron with a heat protector spray or setting it on extra large velcro rollers with a light weight spray gel works great.

I had the same experience! I have super curly hair and got a straightener that did NOT work out at all. I had straight pieces and curly pieces. It was awful. I ended up getting a very short haircut (like Halle Berry's old short style) and I loved it. Now, if short hair is not an option, what I would suggest is getting layers cut into your hair. This will help when you wear it curly. When you style it, you need to get it wet, put mousse/gel in it and scrunch it all over from the root on down to the end. This will help to activate curls all over. This works really well. The heat is only going to make the situation worse. Your hair starts to get used to the flat iron, so you are going to get less and less curl and since you are getting new hair at the root, the curly and straight ends looks bad. Stop the heat and start the scrunch!
