How do you get your hair back in a hair net?

I'm having some trouble, do you put your hair in a low ponytail then put the net in? Or do you put your hair in the net then the ponytail? It's just a plain net, no barette or clip.

Heres what I have always done at many years of showing--

Put my hair back in a low pony tail

Flip my head upside down and put the hair net on (the hair from pony tail end will end up being on top of your head) I don't secure them on with bobby pins because with the helmet pressing down they hurt my head!

Then take your helmet and put it on back to front so it's easier to get on!

Tuck everything in and go!

It's really not that hard and thats about the only way to do it.

just put it in a bun and put the hairnet over the bun, sounds much easier.

Its hard to say just to put it in a bun. I do a traditional chignon where you use bobby pins rather than a hair tie. I find this makes it easier to net because the bobby pins catch the netting and hold it in place. Its helps to put mousse in your hair before putting it up and then spraying to keep the bits in place.

1. Twist all of your hair back into a rope

2. Keep twisting so it starts to wrap around itself

3. Use "ballerina pins" (the larger bobby pins, I'm unsure of their real name but a former college roommate who was a professional ballet dancer called them this) to pin from the center out and point the pin back in towards the center of the chignon and secure

4. Use smaller pins to put all the stray bits into place to keep hairs from sticking out of your net.

5. Net and use more pins to hold the net in place.

You may feel like a lighting rod but I assure you your chignon ought not fall out through all the classes. Best of luck!

You have to put your hair in a low ponytail and then use bobby pins to pin it into a bun. Then put the hair net over the bun.

I agree with the first person, put it in a bun in your hand, then with the other start putting the hair net on the bun first.

Showing hunters and jumpers every weekend, I got pretty good at this. Here's what I do:

1) Put your hair in a very low ponytail with a rubber band, not hair scrunchie.

2) Twist the end of the ponytail around in a rope and flip up to the top of your head. Secure this with bobby pins.

3) Put the hair net over this. Don't use the big ones with huge holes in them. They don't work and the judge will be able to see it. Use the the thinnest one you can find that matches your hair color. Secure the hair net as needed with bobby pins.

4) Put your helmet on from back to front to keep all the hair under the hat and on your head.

There are easier ways, but many of them don't last and your hair will end up falling out from underneath your helmet. When you're at a show, you're going to want to stay as neat as possible so just do it right from the beginning.

You may have trouble at first. Practice at home, and when you're at the show have someone with experience do it for you.

With your hands.

I put my hair in a low bun and use bobby pins for stray hairs then but the hairnet over my hair and put on my helmet.

Put it in a bun or lower ponytail, spray some hairspray on it and put a few bobby pins in. Then tuck the hairnet over it and put your helmet on over it.

It's much easier with practice. Just make sure there is absolutley no hair showing in front or on the sides of your face - it just looks tacky in the show ring.

I used to have to do this twice a week when i was showing heavily...LOL

This is what I did. First spray your hair with hairspray, if it's a little stiffer, it's easier to work with. Then put it in a low ponytail and tuck the end of the ponytail underneath so that it makes a loop. Take some hair-pins (they are wider than bobbypins) and spread the loop out so that it fans out into a nice smooth bun. Put on the hairnet and secure it with bobbypins. Then put on your helmet or your Western Hat VERY CAREFULLY...lol. If you are showing western, don't forget to bobbypin the hat to your head, there is nothing worse than a hat coming off during a class.

Just for your info...in the Arab world, it was frowned upon to make a bun by simply twisting the hair until is wound around into a bun, it simply doesn't look as classy.
