When I was in high school, I read a short story about a young, poor couple. It was some sort of holiday (Christmas I believe) and the couple needed to buy each other gifts. The woife had long, beautiful hair and the husband had a watch he was very fond of. Neither of them had enough money to buy the other a gift. The wife cuts off and sells her hair to buy the husband a chain for his pocket watch and the husband sells his watch to buy the wife hair clips for her hair.
I was discussing this story yesterday and can't remember the name. Does anyone know it?
